#OTD In UD History: Baseball Upsets 13th Ranked Trinity in 10 Inn.; Softball No-Hits Austin to Headline Pair of Shutouts; Salotto scores 7 in WLAX Victory

On this date in the University of Dallas Athletics History:

April 17, 2011 – On consecutive days, the Dallas baseball team stunned No. 13 Trinity University with a one-run upset, this time coming in 10 innings. Up 2-0 in the ninth, the Tigers knotted the game in regulation and took the lead in the top of the 10th. Mark Carlson executed a safety squeeze that scored Adam Farris to win the game.

April 17, 2011 – Dallas women’s lacrosse erased a 6-5 deficit to go on and win 16-9 at College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Mary Salotto punched in seven  goals.

April 17, 2010 – Dallas baseball edges Austin College, 9-8, with the game-winning run coming in the top of the eighth for the guests in a shortened contest (7 inn.). David Rettinger ripped the doube that scored Brian Shelburne for the ninth run. Adam Farris went 2-3 with three RBI and run scored.

April 17, 2006 – Dallas softball blanked Austin College in two contests by outscoring them 33-0. Amanda Acevedo threw a no-hitter in a 20-0 final. She was the lead off hitter in the top trio of the lineup to produce four RBI and added a 3-4 with a game-high four runs scored. Castillo was perfect (4-4) at the plate and joined Sassenus with the quartet of RBI.
