On this date in University of Dallas Athletics history:
April 6, 2013 - The Crusaders baseball team defeated Southwestern University in Georgetown, 5-2. Andrew Bossert went the distance, allowing two runs on four hits and fanning seven. The Crusaders scored 3 runs in the last two innings to secure their fifth win in the last seven.
April 6, 2012 – The Crusaders blanked Austin College, 3-0. Michael Schweiss hurled 7.2 shutout innings with two hits allowed and six strikeouts. Michael Byers allowed a hit in the last 1.1 innings to polish the shutout. Mark Carlson had a 2-4 with an RBI.
April 6, 2011 – The Dallas softball team picked up two wins over Texas College. After winning 9-2, Dallas doubled its scoring output in an 18-5 final through five innings. Mallori Westbrook went 2-4, with 3 RBI, and a run scored in game one. Dallas scored 17 runs in the first three frames of game two, highlighted by eight in the first.
April 6, 2010 – After falling by a run in the first game, UD rallied down 2-0 with a three-spot in the bottom of the sixth to defeat East Texas Baptist University. The top three hitters in the lineup each drove in a run, with Shelburne leading the offense with a 2-3. A trio of pitchers combined for 8 K’s. Michael Schweiss retired all four batters he faced via a punchout for half of them.
April 6, 2008 – Dallas women’s lacrosse edged Sewanee in overtime, 13-12. Trailing by two at halftime, the Crusaders rallied to exchange leads until the match would be knotted with 55 seconds by Sewanee to end regulation. Down 11-9 at the start of the extra period, Dallas scored three straight and Christine McFarland had the game-winner in the last 26 seconds. She tallied a game-high six goals and eight points.
April 6, 2002 - Dan Lively threw a 140'4" mark at the Ray Vaughn Classic in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to set the school record. It remains the top program mark in men's track and field.
