JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (3-3) dropped a 19-6 decision on Saturday afternoon at Millsaps College (1-4).
Junior Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) notched a personal best five goals in consecutive contests to pace the Crusaders' offense. His effort was not enough to overcome the MC's offense on a day that witnessed 52 shooting attempts from the home squad.
Most of the damage was done by Jack Houtz with a game-high six goals. He poured 12 shot attempts, with nine on goal to reflect team-bests in each category. Kyler Bibb was right behind with five goals on nine attempts. Simon Sherman compiled a double-digit performance in 11 shots and four netters.
All of the Majors' scorers garnered multi-goal efforts with Scott Budd and Aaron Falkenstein rounding out the goals with two apiece.
The Navy and White managed 15 shots and 10 shots on goal. Cyr provided the majority of the shooting with 12 and eight, respectively.
The other goal for the Crusaders was delivered from senior Cody Wooten (Aurora, Colo.) on two attempts, both on target. He added two ground balls and now has six netters on the campaign to rank third on the squad.
Junior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was saddled with the setback with 19 goals allowed in 60 minutes. He produced 19 saves.
Riley McLean claimed the first victory on the year for Millsaps with 60 minutes of work and four saves against 10 shots.
