Zhang Leads Crusaders Day One

WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas – University of Dallas men's golf has four athletes after the first 18 holes of action at the Crusader Cup on Monday, hosted at Hawks Creek Golf Course.

The two Crusader teams battled it out with team "A" shotting 315 (+27) and team "B" 324 (+36) after the completion of day one. The Crusaders are 8 strokes ahead of the Howard Payne University Yellowjackets.

Texas Lutheran University (TX) is tied with the Celts of St. Thomas (TX) in the event with a one-round score of 298, with Lyon College in third and Centenary College & Concordia (TX) in fourth. The Mountaineers of Schreiner University is sixth, followed by the Crusaders in seventh and eight and Howard Payne University (TX) in the ninth and final slot.

Dallas has four of the eleven players shotting under 80 (five-over par) or better during the first day, with Mike Zhang shooting 75 (five-over-par) leading the Crusaders by one shot. Heuiseung Kim shot a 76 and Rex Soulliere shot a 77.

Lucas Lang also shot 77 for the Crusaders, Sean McGarrity shot an 81, Alvarez shot an 82, Griggs shot 84, Quiros an 82 ( ten-over-par), Sei Sato, Benji and Thomas shot an 89.
