IRVING, Texas -- The University of Dallas women's soccer team defeats Millsaps in the home opener on Friday, with a final score of 4-1. Dallas evens their record at 1-1 on the year.
The Crusaders found themselves down early on as the Majors scored in the early minutes. The Crusaders' Claire Reed netted the first goal for Dallas in the 55th minute to tie the game, 1-1. The Crusaders emphasized defending the goal coming out of the break. Dallas would leave no doubt and stifle any hopes of a Millsaps comeback by shutting out the Majors in the second period.
Dallas scored three unanswered goals in the second period, 2 goals by Semya Chancellor and 1 goal by Nevaeh Coronado. The Crusaders picked up the intensity throughout the match with 14 total shots to Millsaps 10. Ella Charles was able to breathe tonight with only one recorded save and the rest of the pressures on the goals shown as aired goal attempts or team saves.
Elizabeth Lensing showed that teamwork makes the dream work with an assist on the goal that would give the Crusaders the lead.
