Griggs Leaps Leaderboards, Crusaders Jump Fifth Spot

WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team wrapped up play at the SCAC Preview at Hawks Creek Golf Club with several strong individual performances against a deep conference field.

Iain Griggs continued his impressive fall season, finishing second overall with a two-round total of 4-under par, highlighted by a stellar second-round 64 (-8) that vaulted him up the leaderboard. Griggs's performance was among the best single rounds of the tournament and showcased his consistency and control under pressure. That performance broke the previous school record of 65 set by Robby Evans.

Mike Zhang joined him inside the top 10, tying for ninth place at +2 after steady rounds of 73 (+1) and 73 (+1) to lead the Crusaders' scoring effort. Zachary Vickers tied for 35th at +9, rebounding with a solid second-round 73 (+1), while Ethan Hoang finished tied for 42nd at +12, closing with a 75 (+3). Matthew Duphorn rounded out the lineup tied for 45th at +14, improving with a 75 (+3) on the final day.

The Dallas "B" team also gained valuable experience, led by Thomas Oubre, who tied for 35th at +9 after rounds of 74 (+2) and 79 (+7). Benji Cronenwett followed in a tie for 48th (+15), Daniel Casas finished tied for 55th (+17), Antonio Alvarez carded +19 for a tie at 60th, and Wayne Poon rounded out the group tied for 63rd (+21).

The SCAC Preview provided a strong test for the Crusaders, offering a look at championship-level competition as they continue to build momentum heading into the spring.
