UDallas endures rough weekend

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's tennis team dropped two matches over the weekend, falling to Ottawa and Texas A&M–Texarkana in non-conference play.

Against Ottawa on March 13, the Crusaders were unable to gain momentum as Ottawa secured the victory with wins across the completed singles and doubles matches. In singles play, Christian DeLira competed at the No. 1 position, while Gabriel Alfaro played at No. 2. Cayven Yi represented Dallas at No. 3 singles, and Wheeler Ehrlich competed in the No. 4 spot. Juan Bustamante played at No. 5 singles, while the No. 6 position went unfinished.

Ottawa also claimed the doubles courts that were completed. DeLira and Yi competed together at No. 1 doubles, while Alfaro and Ehrlich represented the Crusaders at No. 2.

UDallas returned to the court on March 15 against Texas A&M–Texarkana, where the Eagles earned a 6-1 victory. Texas A&M–Texarkana secured the doubles point with wins on the first two courts. Alfaro and Ehrlich paired together in doubles action for the Crusaders.

In singles play, DeLira competed at the No. 1 position, followed by Alfaro at No. 2 and Yi at No. 3. Ehrlich played at No. 4 singles, while Bustamante provided the lone win against his hometown squad for Dallas at No. 5 singles with a three-set victory, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5. The No. 6 singles match did not produce a result.

The Crusaders will look to regroup as they continue their spring schedule on Wednesday in San Antonio versus OLLU
