IRVING, Texas – University of Dallas Director of Athletics Jarred Samples announced that head softball coach Eric Oakley has resigned from his position after two seasons to accept the head softball coaching position at Longwood University.

Oakley was the ninth head coach in program history in the summer of 2024 and spent the past two seasons leading the Crusaders. During his tenure, he helped foster a culture centered on growth, accountability, and the holistic development of student-athletes while continuing to strengthen the foundation of the softball program.

"We are grateful to Eric for his dedication to the University of Dallas and our softball program," said Samples. "We appreciate the time and energy he invested in our student-athletes and wish him the best in the next chapter of his coaching career."

A national search for the next head softball coach will begin immediately.
