IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team battled throughout Saturday evening's home matchup with Howard Payne University, but ultimately fell 4-1 to the Yellow Jackets at the University of Dallas Soccer Field.
The Crusaders (0-2-0) kept Howard Payne within striking distance through the opening half, but the Yellow Jackets carried a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break after goals from Abbie Wetzel in the 17th minute and Madison LaDart in the 44th minute.
Howard Payne added to its lead late in the second half when Alec Alvarado found the back of the net in the 80th minute.
UDallas responded less than two minutes later as Annalise Martinez scored her first goal of the season in the 82nd minute, cutting the deficit to 3-1 and providing a spark for the Crusaders.
The Yellow Jackets answered again in the 86th minute, with Kenzie Cameron scoring her second goal of the season off an assist from Wetzel to close out the scoring at 4-1.
Howard Payne finished the evening with a 20-6 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. The Yellow Jackets also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
UDallas goalkeeper Ella Charles made five saves in the contest, helping keep the Crusaders within reach throughout the match. Howard Payne's goalkeeper recorded one save.
Martinez's second-half goal marked a bright spot for the Crusaders, who will look to build on the offensive momentum as the 2026 season continues.
