he University of Dallas women's basketball team won
tonight's game against instate foe the Concordia University
Tornados 58-45 in the Maher Athletic Center. Holding a 7 point lead
at the break, UD shot 40 percent from the field and outscored the
Tornados by 6 in the last frame to walk away with the comfortable
13 point win.
The team celebrated their victory and their improvement to 4-1,
along with the personal accomplishment of junior forward Cara
Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.). Sczepanski scored
her 1,000 point of her three year University of Dallas career by
scoring on a break away layup on a full court pass from sophomore
guard Brielle Money (Dallas, TX/Dallas Christian Academy) with 3:53
remaining in the game. The field goal gave Sczepanski 1,001 in her
short career before rattling off 5 more points to give her 1,006
points in two full seasons and 5 games of the current campaign. She
also recorded her third double double of the season by finishing
with 27 points and 15 rebounds, and pitched in a block, a steal,
and an assist.
Freshman guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, CA/Mark Keppel H.S.)
scored 15 points and knocked down 3 three point shots, while Money
dished out 8 assists, including Sczepanski's milestone
reaching field goal. Money also hauled down 6 rebounds and led the
team with 2 steals.
The team's next game will be on Sunday, December 6 at 2:00pm
in Georgetown, TX against the Southwestern University Pirates.
