The University of Dallas men's basketball team (1-5) concluded play in the Colorado College Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday, falling to Finlandia University, 65-78
The starting five for the Crusaders were sophomore guard Drew Assinesi (Pasadena, Calif./La Salle H.S.), senior guard/forward Noah Pettit (Fairfax, Calif./Sir Francis Drake), junior guard Barrett Brown (Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe H.S.), sophomore guard Matt Kewell (Coto de Caza, Calif./JSerra Catholic H.S.), and freshman guard Braeton Hightower (Sperry, Okla./Owasso H.S.).
Pettit led the way for Dallas, offensively, pouring in 18 points after making 4-of-12 from the field, and netting 10-of-11 free throw attempts.
Kewell impressed as well, totaling 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field, in addition to hitting 3-of-5 from the charity stripe.
The Crusaders struggled with 3-point shooting, as they went 1-for-17 behind the arc. On the contrary, Finlandia was able to rattle home five 3-pointers on fifteen attempts. Additionally, Finlandia bested Dallas on the boards, snatching 12 more rebounds than the Crusaders.
Next up for Dallas will be a home game against Rust College on Friday, Dec. 3. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., and marks the end of a five game road trip for UD.
