PORTLAND, Ore. - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (6-0) kept its historic streak alive following a 72-60 victory on Saturday night versus Portland Bible College (1-8).
Dallas is off to its best start since the 2000-01 campaign where that squad produced a 12-0 stretch to open the season.
The Crusaders entered halftime with a 44-32 advantage and shot 63 percent from the field in the frame. The navy and white also boasted a season-best 78 percent (7-of-9) from behind the arc.
The Wildcats nipped away at the deficit in the second half, and tied things 50-50 with 12:19 minutes remaining in the contest.
Sophomore Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas), who was perfect 4-of-4 from three-point land, lifted UD back in front and would spark a string of 12-straight points for the road team.
The second-year starting guard finished tying a season-high 21 points. Also posting double-digit totals in scoring with 10 apiece were senior Blaine Blackburn (Midlothian, Texas) and sophomore Tom Kaiser (Nashville, Tenn.).
Senior Aaron Wyatt (Frisco, Texas) finished a team-best eight rebounds and added seven points in the triumph.
Dallas tips off its home-opener on Wednesday against Southwestern Adventist University at the Maher Athletic Center. Start time is expected around 7:30 p.m. following the women's basketball contest.
