Men's Lacrosse slips by Centenary on Sunday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (3-2) won 10-7 on a sloppy, wet field Sunday afternoon over Centenary College of Louisiana (0-4). Dallas moves to 2-1 at home, and is above .500 for the third time on the campaign.

A four-goal third quarter proved to be the difference as the Crusaders outscored Centenary 5-2 in the latter 30 minutes. Both teams battled to a 5-5 deadlock at intermission.

Pacing the Navy and White was junior Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) with a season-high, five goals to increase his team-leading total to 13. Two of his netters occurred during the string of four in a row that paved the way for UD in the third frame.

Also notching a hat trick was fellow classmate Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbror, Mich.). A pair of the midfielder's trio of goals started the scoring for the home squad, and nipped an early 1-0 deficit.

Rounding out the scoring for Dallas was freshman Ethan Fuller (Huntville, Ala.) and sophomore Jacob Tom (Waukesha, Wis.) with one apiece.

As a team, UD held a 26-21 advantage on shots and 51-46 edge on ground balls.

Junior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) collected 13 saves against 20 shots in the victory.

Pacing the Gents offensively were Dylan Sherman and Garret Wick. The duo pounded three goals into the back of the cage and combined to win 10-of-18 in face-offs.

Coulton Toups picked up five saves in the setback.
