SHREVEPORT, La. – Nate Riddle (Millsboro, Del.) headed a ball off a free kick from Eric Haigh (Frisco, Texas) a couple minutes into the second half, and the University of Dallas men's soccer team notched its fifth shutout – second against Centenary College – on the road Friday night. Riddle's first collegiate goal and points occurred at the 48:02 minute mark, and Haigh was credited his second assist of the campaign.
The Crusaders had ample scoring opportunities with 25 shots and nine on goal. UD also took seven corner kicks compared to three by its opponent. Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) and Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) attempted game-highs six. Kajiwara and Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas) had two on frame. Haugland managed to hit the posts on both sides late in the second half, but UD had to settle for the lone score.
Centenary did muster 11 shots but only had Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) face one which the freshman goalkeeper saved during his fourth complete match shutout. His clean sheet improved the Crusaders to 8-2-2 overall and tied a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC)-most seven wins. The victory keeps the team in second with a 7-1-2 record.
Dallas earned win number 235 as a program. It was also head coach David Hoffmann's 135th with the Crusaders.
