No. 2 Colorado College too much for Volleyball in Divisional Opener

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Dallas volleyball team was unable to keep up with No. 2 Colorado College on Friday night in the Reid Arena. The Crusaders fell to 7-14 and 1-7 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), while Colorado College remained unbeaten in the conference its first eight games and clinched a spot for the tournament in Kerrville, Texas, on November 3rd-5th.

The set scores were 25-14, 25-13, and 25-12.

In the opening set, the Tigers scored nine straight points after the visitors had the first one of the frame. The Crusaders benefited from a few attack errors that cut the margin in half 10-5. A kill by Theresa Schramm (Plymouth, Wis.) stopped a 10-4 span that widened the gap for CC.

Similar runs in the next pair of sets allowed the Tigers to move to 20-1 on the campaign. A trio of players tied game-highs in kills with seven apiece, as the team combined for 47. Haley Harris, Aria Dudley, and Myca Steffey-Bean formed the group.

The Crusaders were led by Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.) with 18 digs. The senior's classmate Mary Scholz (Fallon, Nev.) returned to the court and contributed three kills and three blocks, which two were solo.
