IRVING, Texas – The UDallas softball team battled at Crusader Field but was unable to slow the offensive surge from Concordia University Texas, dropping both games of Friday's doubleheader to open the series.
UDallas (0-2) faced a consistent Concordia lineup that totaled 21 runs on 25 hits across the two contests. Despite defensive challenges in game one, the Crusaders continued to compete in the circle and looked to build momentum heading into the remainder of the weekend.
In the opener, UDallas held Concordia scoreless through four innings before a two-run fifth shifted momentum. The Tornados capitalized on defensive miscues in the sixth and seventh to extend their lead, eventually securing a 13-1 victory. Kristiana Guerra worked 5.2 innings in the start, allowing just three earned runs despite eight total runs crossing the plate. Madison Carda added 1.1 innings of relief. Erika Gazalski scored the Crusaders' lone run.
Game two saw Concordia strike early with two runs in the second and four more in the third. Aliyah Valdez recorded UDallas' lone hit of the contest, a double to left field. Ava Trevino started in the circle, while Julia Kruse provided 2.1 innings of relief as the Tornados completed the 8-0 win.
