MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team dropped a doubleheader to #9 East Texas Baptist on Tuesday, falling 10-1 and 10-0 in five innings.
UDallas totaled five hits across the two games but struggled to slow East Texas Baptist's offense, which produced 19 hits and scored 20 runs in the sweep.
In game one, East Texas Baptist jumped out to an early lead with six runs in the opening inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Piper Morton. The Tigers added three more runs in the second inning and another in the third to extend their advantage. UDallas scored its lone run in the second inning when Kailey Sweezey delivered an RBI single to bring home Aliyah Valdez. Valdez and Bre Barnes each recorded a hit in the contest as Ava Trevino took the loss in the circle after pitching four innings.
East Texas Baptist completed the sweep with a 10-0 win in game two. The Tigers scored twice in the first inning before adding three runs in the second and another in the third. A three-run home run by Makayla Menchue highlighted a four-run fourth inning that pushed the lead to double digits. UDallas managed two hits in the game, with Erika Gazalski and Kristiana Guerra each recording a single. Madison Carda started in the circle and took the loss, while Emma Sherman and Guerra combined in relief.
