IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team battled throughout the weekend but was unable to overcome early deficits, dropping a three-game series to McMurry University at home.
UDallas (5-18) totaled 15 hits across the series, while McMurry (14-16-1) capitalized on timely hitting and big innings to secure the sweep. Despite solid individual efforts, the Crusaders struggled to contain momentum swings, particularly in the opening frames of games two and three.
In game one, Dallas kept things tight behind a complete-game effort from Kristiana Guerra, who allowed just four hits and two runs across seven innings. McMurry struck in the first inning on an RBI double and added an insurance run in the sixth to claim a 2-0 victory. The Crusaders managed three hits in the contest, with Keely Mathis, Erika Gazalski, and Kaylee Barajaz each recording a base knock.
Game two featured an early offensive surge from McMurry, who plated eight runs across the first three innings to build a commanding lead. Dallas responded with a two-run first inning, highlighted by an Abby Lasley double, and added three more runs late in the game. Lasley finished with three RBI, while Aliyah Valdez and Emma Sherman each recorded three hits in the contest. Despite the late push, the Crusaders fell 10-5.
In the series finale, McMurry once again used a dominant first inning, scoring eight runs to take control early. The War Hawks added to their lead in the second and third innings, while Dallas was limited to just two hits in the game. McMurry secured the 11-0 run-rule victory in five innings to complete the sweep.
