Crusaders go down Swingin'

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's tennis team battled closely with Howard Payne University but came up just short in a 4-3 decision on Feb. 21.

Howard Payne secured the doubles point by winning two of the three courts. Cayven Yi teamed up with Christian DeLira to earn a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles for the Crusaders, but the Yellow Jackets claimed victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take the early advantage.

Dallas responded with strong performances in singles play, earning three victories across the lineup. Yi delivered a solid outing at No. 2 singles with a straight-set 6-3, 6-4 win, while Gabriel Alfaro added another point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3.

Wheeler Ehrlich also picked up a win for the Crusaders at No. 5 singles, defeating Noah Baiani 6-1, 6-4. Several other matches proved competitive, including a tightly contested battle at No. 1 singles where Aidan Nguyen forced extended sets before falling.
