Crusaders season ends in Seguin

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team faced a tough test on the road, falling in all three games of a weekend series against nationally-ranked Texas Lutheran at Ed Kruse Stadium.

Dallas (8-30) totaled six hits across the series, while Texas Lutheran (35-4) showcased its offensive firepower, scoring 25 runs over the three contests.

In Game 1, the Crusaders kept things competitive early before Texas Lutheran pulled away for a 6-1 win. Abby Lasley drove in Dallas' lone run with an RBI single in the sixth, while Erika Gazalski recorded a hit and scored. Madison Carda went the distance in the circle, allowing six runs on nine hits in the loss.

Game 2 saw Texas Lutheran strike early and often in an 8-0 victory. The Bulldogs plated runs in each of the first five innings, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Taylor Vannett in the opening frame. Dallas was limited to just two hits, with Madison Carda and MacKenzie Flocke each recording one. Kristiana Guerra took the loss after four innings of work.

In the series finale, Texas Lutheran erupted for eight runs in the first two innings and went on to secure an 11-1 win. Abby Lasley and Keely Mathis reached base for the Crusaders, while Erika Gazalski scored the lone run. Julia Kruse was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs in the opening innings.

Texas Lutheran was led offensively by Taylor Vannett, who drove in six runs in Game 3, while Riley Davila and Caelee Clark consistently set the table throughout the series.
