IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team split a midweek doubleheader against Dallas Christian College, bouncing back from a tough opener to secure a strong win in game two.
UDallas totaled 7 runs on 15 hits across the two contests, highlighted by a resilient offensive response and solid pitching in the nightcap.
In game one, the Crusaders fell behind early as Dallas Christian plated two runs in the first inning and erupted for six more in the second to take control. UDallas managed seven hits in the contest, led by Erika Gazalski's 3-for-3 performance at the plate. The Crusaders broke through in the fifth inning when Gazalski scored, with Abby Lasley driving in the lone run. Despite the offensive effort, Dallas Christian held on for a 9-1 victory.
Game two saw UDallas respond in emphatic fashion. After four scoreless innings, the Crusaders erupted for four runs in the fifth, with contributions from MacKenzie Flocke, Erika Gazalski, Keely Mathis, and Aliyah Valdez. UDallas added two more runs in the sixth, highlighted by RBI efforts and aggressive baserunning. Madison Carda led the offense with three hits, while Valdez added two hits and three RBI. In the circle, Carda combined with Kristiana Guerra to limit Dallas Christian to just two runs, with Guerra earning the win in relief as the Crusaders secured a 6-2 victory.
