ABILENE, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team battled Thursday night at the HSU Soccer Complex but ultimately fell 3-0 to Hardin-Simmons University.
The Crusaders (2-1-0) kept the match within reach through the opening half, but Hardin-Simmons took a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break after Landon Newman converted a penalty kick in the 18th minute.
Hardin-Simmons doubled its lead early in the second half when Korbin Raef found the back of the net in the 62nd minute off an assist from Gabriel Rodriguez.
The Cowboys added an insurance goal in the 84th minute as Newman scored his second goal of the night, assisted by Ethan Sam and Easton Hedge, to close out the scoring at 3-0.
Dallas battled throughout the physical contest, with the match featuring seven cautions, including five issued to the Crusaders. Joseph Aziz, Gabe Remakel, Ryan Martinez and Phineas MacMullin each received cautions for UDallas.
The setback marked the first loss of the season for the Crusaders, who entered the contest with a 2-0-0 record. Dallas will look to bounce back as the 2026 season continues next Friday, September the 18th at home against Jarvis Christian.
