IRVING, Texas — The University of Dallas volleyball team opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play Friday night, falling to the University of St. Thomas (TX), 3-0, at the Maher Athletic Center.
St. Thomas took the opening set, 25-19, before claiming the second set, 25-10. UDallas battled in the third set leading most of the way, but the Celts closed out the match, 25-22. The Crusaders finished with 26 kills, three aces, two blocks, 21 assists and 21 digs.
Faith Harris led the UDallas attack with 11 kills, while Skylar Applewhite added four kills and Ellie Karasek recorded three. Applewhite also contributed two blocks, while Jordan Jackson added one.
Gisele Morales paced the Crusaders with eight assists, followed by Anais Ibarra with six. Karasek led UDallas defensively with nine digs, while Ava Jackson added five.
