The UD women's basketball team continued their winning
ways by edging the Millsaps College Majors in tonight's home
game. Deadlocked at 37 at the break, UD turned up the defensive
pressure to hold Millsaps to 27 points in the second half for the
67-64 win.
Leading the offensive charge for Dallas was junior forward Cara
Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.), junior guard Bethany
Roessler (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier College Preparatory), and freshman
guard Kylie Yoshimura (Temple City, CA/Mark Keppel H.S.).
Sczepanski (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.) scored 16 points
while hauling down 4 rebounds. She also flashed her defensive
prowess with 5 steals and 3 blocks. Roessler chipped in 6 points
and 4 assists, while Yoshimura led the team with 22 points on 8-12
shooting from the field and 3 three points baskets. She also dished
out 6 assists. Sophomore guard Brielle Money (Dallas, TX/Dallas
Christian Academy) totaled 13 points and 4 assists during the game
and sophomore forward Lauren Ferguson (Sunnyvale, TX/Dallas
Christian Academy) added 6 points, 3 steals, and an assist.
The score remained close throughout the entire game and was tied
with 10 seconds remaining, but Yoshimura provided the heroics by
scoring with 8 seconds on the clock to give the Crusaders a lead
they would never relinquish. The 3-1 Dallas women are off until
their next game on December 2 against Concordia University. The
home game starts at 7:00pm.
