Three double figure scorers led the Dallas attack as the men's basketball team took down the Rhodes College Lynx Monday night in Memphis, TN, 65-57. Down by one at the break (27-28), UD fought back and outlasted the Lynx to improve to 4-3 in the short season.
Senior forward Travis Ekmark (Yokosuka, Japan/Nile C. Kinnick H.S.) led the Crusader offensive attack with 21 points. The senior had great precision from the field to make 7-13 field goals, while going 3-3 from beyond the arc. He was also 6-7 from the line, led the team with 8 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and stole a team high 4 passes in 37 minutes of action. Senior guard Jim Norton (Louisville, KY/Holy Angels Academy) remained hot and chipped in 12 points while adding 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. The third team member to reach double figures was junior guard/forward Noah Pettit (Fairfax, CA/Sir Francis Drake) who added 14 points. A perfect 10-10 from the line, Pettit also added 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Dallas men are off until Sunday, December 6 when they make the road trip south to take on the Southwestern University Pirates in a rematch of the first game of the season. The game, in Georgetown, TX, tips off at 4:00pm.
