In a game of several lead changes, the Dallas women's
basketball won their second game in a row by defeating the
LeTourneau University Yellow Jackets in Irving, 61-54. The game
remained close throughout and UD possessed a two point lead at the
break before outscoring the Yellow Jackets by five in the last
frame to improve to 7-8. As a team, UD improved their field goal
percentage to 43.5 in the second half after shooting at a 38.7 clip
in the first half.
Four Crusaders reached double digit point totals, led by junior
forward Cara Sczepanski (Marcus H.S./Highland Village, TX) who went
6-18 from the field for of 18 points and sophomore guard Kelly
Regan (John Paul II H.S./Plano, TX) was right behind her with14
points. Sczepanski also co-led the team with 8 rebounds while
adding 2 steals. Freshman guard Kylie Yoshimura (Mark Keppel
H.S./Tempe City, CA) and junior forward/center Joirdan Cole (Bishop
Lynch H.S./Plano, TX) both scored 13 points and Yoshimura was one
of two Crusaders to record 5 assists. Roessler also reached the 5
assist mark while also tying for the team lead with 8 rebounds.
UD is off until this weekend when the host games against the
UC-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs and the Chapman University Panthers. UD
takes on UC-Santa Cruz on Friday at 6:00pm before facing Chapman on
Sunday at 1:00pm. UC-Santa Cruz plays Chapman on the Maher Center
floor on Saturday. The neutral game starts at 3:00pm.
