Men's Basketball downed by Richard Stockton College

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - On the back half of the College of Staten Island's two day Tournament of Heroes, the University of Dallas men's basketball team (2-9) was defeated on Wednesday evening by the Richard Stockton College (RSC) Osprey, 70-39.

The 6'7" Ross Davidson (San Juan Capistrano, Cali./JSerra Catholic H.S.) rattled off his first double-double as a Crusader. Davidson, a December enrollee, finished with 11 points after sinking his lone free throw opportunity and shooting 5-of-9 from the field. On the boards, he recorded 14 rebounds -- three offensive, 11 defensive.

His teammate, freshman guard Braeton Hightower (Sperry, Okla./Owasso H.S.), captured yet another game-high in points, with 13. In addition to netting all four of his free throw attempts, Hightower went 4-of-12 from the field, including shooting 1-of-6 from three-point land.

Apart from Davidson and Hightower, no other Crusader reached double-digits in points, as Dallas struggled finding their offensive rhythm, shooting 28.6 percent from the field on the night.

Meanwhile, Dallas had trouble containing the Osprey, who shot 43.1 percent for the game. RSC also bested the Crusaders on the glass, out-rebounding Dallas, 47-31. Another key stat came in the form of steals, an advantage which RSC held as well, 16-6.

Dallas went into half time trailing RSC, 42-17. From there, the headaches would only mount for the Crusaders who at one point trailed by 34 in the second half before suffering the 31 point defeat.

The Crusaders will use their time at the Tournament of Heroes as a learning experience in preparation for Hendrix College, their next opponent. The two will square off at the Maher Athletic Center on Sunday, Jan. 2, at 3:00 p.m., in Dallas' third home game of the season.
