Men's Basketball surges late, but can't catch Hendrix College

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (2-10) suffered a 71-59 defeat on Sunday afternoon at the hands of the Hendrix College Warriors.

Freshman guard Braeton Hightower (Sperry, Okla./Owasso H.S.) tried valiently to spark Dallas' comeback effort, but the Crusaders could only gain a three point advantage in the final period after trailing by nine at halftime.

Hightower had a game-high 24 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field. Hightower shot well from distance, connecting on 4-of-6 from three-point land, including draining some NBA range trifectas late in the second half.

Big man Ross Davidson (San Juan Capistrano, Cali./JSerra Catholic H.S.) fell just short of reaching a double double, as the 6'7" freshman put home eight points, and snatched ten rebounds -- one offensive, nine defensive.

Hendrix held a 40-28 edge in rebounding, while Dallas had an 8-6 advantage in steals.

Next on the slate for the Crusaders is a tilt versus the Austin College Kangaroos on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 8:00 p.m.
