IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (2-12) were defeated on Sunday afternoon by the Colorado College Tigers, 68-59.
Dallas was within six points of Colorado College at the 11:34 mark of the first half, but a slew of Crusader turnovers and missed jumpers grew the Tiger lead to 22 points with 3:22 remaining in the opening period.
Dallas freshman forward Ross Davidson (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./JSerra Catholic H.S.) converted on a jumper, a layup, and netted a three-pointer before Joe Edison (Tulsa, Okla./Metro Christian Academy) poured in a three-pointer as well to spark a 10-0 Crusader run to end the first half. At the break, Dallas trailed 41-29.
The 6'7" Davidson recorded his second double-double of the season. He amassed 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-2 day from beyond the arc, and making all four of his free throw attempts.
When play resumed, freshman guard Braeton Hightower (Sperry, Okla./Owasso H.S.) knocked down a three-pointer to pull the Crusaders back to a single digit deficit, nine points.
Dallas pulled within seven points twice in the latter period, but this proved to be all they could muster, as time ran out on the Crusaders, who suffered the nine point defeat.
The Crusaders on the afternoon shot 33.3 percent, while the Tigers kncocked down 44.4 percent of their shots from the field.
Next up for Dallas will be a 7:00 p.m. tilt on the road versus Rhodes College on Tuesday, Jan. 11th.
