Men's Basketball Adds Abilene Christian to Schedule

IRVING, Texas - UD men's basketball and head coach Matt Grahn have announced the addition of a game on Wednesday, Dec. 1, against Abilene Christian University.

The Wildcats drew the attention of the entire nation last season.  First, for their relentless defense that led the nation in forced turnovers and turnover margin.  Second, for dominating the No. 6 seed Lamar University and No. 1 seed Nicholls State University to win their second Southland Conference Championship.  And third, for their 53-52 upset of the No. 3 seed University of Texas at Austin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Wildcats ended the year 24-5 after falling to UCLA 67-47 in the Round of 32; it was the first time in the program's 100 year history that they had three consecutive seasons with 20 or more wins.

"We're excited for the opportunity to play against a high-level Division I team," said Grahn.  "I want to thank head coach Brette Tanner, he's an old friend, for inviting us down and giving us the opportunity.  Our guys will get to experience not just a high level of competition, obviously they made that great run in the NCAA Tournament last year and they're a great team, but a Division I gameday experience on top of that.  I couldn't be more thrilled to help provide this experience for the program and the team."

The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start Wednesday night and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
