IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's basketball team responded in a big way on Saturday night, shaking off an uncharacteristic loss to Arlington Baptist and delivering a hard-fought 75-72 victory over Lyon College at the Maher Athletic Center.
The Crusaders battled through a back-and-forth game that featured 17 lead changes and 13 ties, closing with a dominant 27-point fourth quarter to secure their first win of the season. Freshman La'Aria Miller came off the bench with a huge spark, pouring in 19 points and going 8-11 from the free-throw line. Kathleen Santos added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Hailey Hawthorne filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 7 assists, and 6 boards.
Madison Triolet anchored the interior with a double-digit rebounding effort, pulling down 12 boards, and Maria Podskarbi was a force on the glass as well with a game-high 15 rebounds. Isabelle Chevalier added 11 points off the bench, giving UD key depth in the final stretch.
Dallas improves to 1-2 and heads into the next slate of games with momentum after their strongest performance of the young season.
