JACKSON, Mississippi – The University of Dallas volleyball team wrapped up play at the Hangar Dome on Saturday with a doubleheader against Millsaps and Lyon. Despite showing stretches of grit and defensive effort, the Crusaders fell in both contests, dropping a 3-0 match to the Majors and a 3-1 decision to the Scots.
In the morning matchup with Millsaps, UDallas battled closely in the first set before the Majors pulled away for a sweep. Ja'Niyah Boudreaux led the attack with six kills, while Carina Alonso and Syraia Harvey each chipped in one. The Crusaders kept pressure at the service line with aces from Isabella Salazar (2), Alonso, and Boudreaux, while Anna Clement added a block at the net. Defensively, Breana Timms anchored the back row with 14 digs, followed by Alonso with nine and Isabella Woodley with seven.
Against Lyon, the Crusaders found their rhythm in the third set, hitting .174 as a team to extend the match. Andrea Zavaleta-Vega paced the offense with seven kills, while Alonso and Clement tallied five apiece. Alonso also sparked from the service line with four aces, complemented by Timms (2) and Boudreaux (1). At the net, Clement led the defensive effort with six blocks, while Zavaleta-Vega added three. Alonso (14 digs) and Timms (13 digs) steadied the defense, and Salazar and Harvey distributed the offense with 10 assists each. Though Lyon secured the fourth set, UDallas showed resilience and signs of growth heading into the next stretch of their road warrior season.
