IRVING, Texas – ADRIANA MEDINA OF UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior on the women's basketball team from Ennis, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning October 5. The UDallas athletics department has paired with the SCAC to spotlight Medina, and celebrate her efforts off the court within the campus community.
For Adriana, being part of the University of Dallas women's basketball program means being part of something bigger than basketball. The junior has made her faith an important part of her college experience, finding ways to bring that commitment into the lives of her teammates. Through group Bible study sessions, Adriana helps create space for meaningful conversations, shared reflection, and a stronger sense of fellowship among the Crusaders.
Her leadership, however, is not limited to her locker room.
As a member of the University of Dallas' first-generation student organization, Adriana is invested in the experiences of students navigating college as the first in their families to do so.
Her involvement connects her to a community built around shared experiences, encouragement, and helping students find their footing in higher education. It is another way she puts her values into action, recognizing that the college journey is about more than earning a degree. It is also about finding community and knowing you have people in your corner.
For Adriana, faith and service go hand in hand. Whether she is bringing teammates together in fellowship or connecting with fellow first-generation students, she makes an impact by helping others feel supported and connected. Her story is a reminder that leadership does not always come from being the loudest voice in the room. Sometimes, it comes from creating the space for others to grow, belong, and discover their own path.
