Crusaders endure tough stretch

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's tennis team dropped three matches over the weekend, falling to Our Lady of the Lake University, Texas Lutheran University, and Concordia University Texas in non-conference play.

Against Our Lady of the Lake on March 18, the Crusaders were unable to find momentum as the Saints secured a 7-0 victory. Dallas competed across the singles lineup with Avery Williams at No. 1, Kathleen Roset at No. 2, Bridget Sullivan at No. 3, Evelyn Powell at No. 4, and Cecilia Webb at No. 5, while the No. 6 match went unfinished. In doubles play, Williams and Roset paired at No. 1, while Sullivan and Powell competed together at No. 2.

UDallas returned to the court on March 20 against Texas Lutheran, where the Bulldogs claimed a 6-1 win. Dallas picked up a doubles victory at the No. 1 position from Williams and Roset, but Texas Lutheran secured the remaining courts to take the doubles point. In singles action, Williams earned the Crusaders' lone point with a straight-set victory at No. 1, while Roset (No. 2), Sullivan (No. 3), Powell (No. 4), and Webb (No. 5) battled through their matches. The No. 6 position resulted in a default.

The Crusaders closed the weekend on March 21 against Concordia Texas, falling 7-0 in Austin. Concordia claimed the doubles point, with matches at No. 1 and No. 2 going unfinished and the third court decided by default. In singles play, Williams, Roset, Sullivan, Powell, and Webb each represented Dallas across the lineup but were unable to break through against the Tornados.

The Crusaders will look to regroup as they continue their spring schedule versus McMurry and Schreiner the weekend of March 27th.
