IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's tennis team split a pair of matches over the weekend, earning a win over McMurry University before falling to Schreiner University in non-conference play.
Against McMurry on March 27, the Crusaders secured a 5-1 victory behind strong performances in both doubles and singles play. Avery Williams and Kathleen Roset led the way with a win at No. 1 doubles, while the remaining doubles court went unfinished. In singles action, Williams added a straight-set victory at No. 1, while Cecilia Webb competed at No. 2. Bridget Sullivan, Evelyn Powell, and Roset each picked up wins by default to help seal the team victory.
UDallas returned to the court on March 28 against Schreiner, where the Mountaineers claimed a 6-1 win. Schreiner secured the doubles point with victories on the top two courts, as Williams and Roset competed at No. 1 and Webb and Powell paired at No. 2, while the third court went unfinished.
In singles play, Williams provided the lone point for the Crusaders with a three-set victory at No. 1, rallying for a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 win. Roset (No. 2), Sullivan (No. 3), Powell (No. 4), and Webb (No. 5) each battled but were unable to secure additional points, while the No. 6 match did not produce a result.
The Crusaders will look to build on their momentum as they continue their spring schedule.
