LONGVIEW, Texas — The University of Dallas baseball team battled throughout the weekend but came up short in a three-game SCAC series against LeTourneau University at Conrad-Vernon Field.
UDallas (9-24, 7-17 SCAC) showed flashes offensively across the series, totaling 20 runs on 22 hits, but was unable to contain timely hitting from LeTourneau as the YellowJackets completed the sweep.
In game one, the Crusaders were held in check early before breaking through in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly from Reed Morales that scored Walker Alsobrooks. Caleb Mize led Dallas at the plate with three hits, while Luke Gill added a double. Liam Mosley delivered a solid outing on the mound, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings, but a three-run homer by LeTourneau in the second proved to be the difference in a 3-1 loss.
Game two saw Dallas jump out to an early lead behind a dominant performance from Dylan Goddard. Goddard opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first before adding a two-run single in the second, finishing with three hits and three RBI. The Crusaders built a 7-4 advantage through five innings, highlighted by RBI contributions from Caleb Mize and Walker Alsobrooks. However, LeTourneau rallied late, scoring four runs over the final three innings, including a walk-off in the ninth to secure an 8-7 victory.
In the series finale, Dallas struck first with a two-run triple from Dylan Roscopf in the opening inning. After falling behind, the Crusaders mounted a mid-game rally in the sixth, scoring three runs behind RBI singles from Luke Gill and Andrew Israel along with a run-scoring groundout by Roscopf. Despite the push, LeTourneau's early offensive surge proved too much as Dallas fell 8-5.
