Crusaders handed series loss at home

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team battled offensively throughout the weekend but came up short in a three-game series against LeTourneau at Crusader Field.

UDallas totaled 13 runs on 29 hits across the series, highlighted by a breakout offensive performance in game one, but LeTourneau used timely hitting and capitalized on defensive miscues to secure the series sweep.

In game one, the Crusaders put together one of their strongest offensive showings of the season despite a 10-9 loss. Dallas racked up 20 hits, with Emma Sherman leading the way with three hits and four RBI, including a two-run double in a five-run third inning. Abby Lasley and Madison Carda each collected three hits, while Ava Aleman added three hits and two RBI. The Crusaders erased an early deficit and tied the game late at 9-9 on a sacrifice fly by Sherman, but LeTourneau responded with the go-ahead run in the eighth to secure the win.

Game two saw Dallas again show flashes offensively but struggle defensively in a 6-4 loss. Abby Lasley delivered a key two-run double in the third inning to help the Crusaders rally, while Madison Carda added an RBI single. Dallas finished with nine hits, including multi-hit efforts from Lasley and Aliyah Valdez, but five defensive errors proved costly as LeTourneau built an early lead and held on despite a late push.

In the series finale, LeTourneau controlled the game from the outset in an 8-0 victory. The YellowJackets scored in four different innings and limited the Crusaders to no hits offensively. Dallas was unable to generate momentum at the plate, while LeTourneau's pitching staff kept the lineup off balance throughout the shortened contest.
