IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team continued its explosive start to the 2026 season Saturday evening, securing a 4-1 victory over Howard Payne University at the U Dallas Soccer Field.
The Crusaders improved to 2-0-0 on the season and have now scored eight goals across their first two matches, marking the program's first back-to-back four-goal performances since 2008.
UDallas struck first in the 16th minute when Joseph Aziz found the back of the net to give the Crusaders a 1-0 advantage. Aziz's second goal of the season gave UDallas the lead heading into halftime.
The Crusaders quickly added to their advantage after the break. Just under four minutes into the second half, Brendan Gillum doubled the lead in the 49th minute, converting a chance assisted by Bayden Pitts for his first goal of the season.
Aziz struck again in the 54th minute, recording his second goal of the evening and extending the UDallas advantage to 3-0.
The Crusaders continued to apply pressure as Andi San Roman found the back of the net in the 76th minute. Landon Bourgoine provided the assist on San Roman's first goal of the season, giving UDallas a four-goal cushion.
Howard Payne answered just over two minutes later, with Xzavier Saldana scoring in the 79th minute off an assist from Trey Lane.
UDallas maintained its three-goal advantage through the final whistle to secure its second consecutive victory.
The Crusaders finished the match with a 9-4 advantage in shots, including six shots on goal compared to two for Howard Payne. UDallas also held advantages in saves, 1-2, while Howard Payne finished with five corner kicks to UDallas' four.
Aziz led the offensive attack with two goals, while Gillum and San Roman each added one. Bourgoine and Pitts contributed assists in the victory.
With the win, UDallas moves to 2-0-0 on the young season and has outscored its opponents 8-2 through two matches.
