Crusaders Under Tornado Warning, falling 0-3 in sweep

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Dallas baseball team opened SCAC play with competitive stretches offensively but was unable to slow down a high-powered Concordia University Texas lineup, falling in a three-game road series at Gardner-Boggs Field.

UDallas (0-6, 0-3 SCAC) totaled 12 runs on 12 hits across the weekend, highlighted by a two-run homer from Luke Gill in game one and multi-hit performances from Dylan Goddard and Walker Alsobrooks. Concordia (3-0, 3-0 SCAC) combined for 37 runs on 43 hits, using big middle innings in all three contests to seize control.

In game one, the Crusaders struck first in the third inning when Gill launched a two-run homer to left, scoring Alsobrooks and giving Dallas a 2-0 edge. Concordia answered with a solo shot in the bottom half and broke the game open with four runs in the sixth and seven more in the seventh to secure a 12-2 win. Liam Mosley tossed 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out five.

Game two saw UDallas manufacture its lone run in the fourth inning, as Caleb Mize scored on a wild pitch. Goddard collected two doubles, and Joey Leoni added a base hit, but Concordia used a three-run second and a six-run fourth to pull away for a 13-1 victory.

In Sunday's finale, the Crusaders grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI groundout from Nomar Duran. Goddard later drove in a run in the seventh, and Alsobrooks finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Concordia responded with a four-run second, three more in the fourth and five in the seventh to close out a 12-2 decision.
