IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Howard Payne University on Feb. 21.
Howard Payne claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Bridget Sullivan and Colette Asan competed at No. 1 doubles but fell 6-2, while Kathleen Roset and Asan dropped a 6-2 decision at the No. 2 spot. Evelyn Powell and Cecilia Webb were slated at No. 3 doubles, though the match did not finish.
In singles play, the Yellow Jackets secured victories at the top four courts to clinch the match. Asan competed at both the No. 1 and No. 4 singles positions, battling through rallies but ultimately falling in straight sets in each contest. Sullivan fell at No. 2 singles, while Roset competed at No. 3.
Powell and Webb were awarded wins by default at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, accounting for the Crusaders' two points in the match.
