IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas baseball team responded in emphatic fashion after a midweek heartbreaker against Hardin-Simmons University, sweeping Schreiner University in a three-game series at home.
UDallas leaned on dominant starting pitching in the opener and explosive offensive innings in the final two contests, outscoring Schreiner 30-15 across the weekend to secure the series sweep.
In game one, the Crusaders set the tone behind a complete-game gem from Liam Mosley. The right-hander scattered four hits and struck out 10 over nine innings, allowing just one run in the ninth. Luke Gill opened the scoring with a solo homer in the third, and Dallas methodically added on with RBI efforts from Levi Enriquez and David Laranjo before a three-run eighth broke the game open in a 6-1 victory. Gill finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Dylan Goddard added two hits and two stolen bases.
Game two featured an offensive eruption from the Crusaders. After falling behind 2-0, Dallas answered with three runs in the second before exploding for six runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run bunt single from Dylan Thane and a two-run homer from Gill. Cody Jenkins delivered a monster performance, going 4-for-6 with two RBI and four stolen bases. David Laranjo added three hits and two RBI as Dallas rolled to a 12-5 win behind Arthur Ruff's six-inning start.
Sunday's finale provided more fireworks. Dallas scored in each of the first four innings, building a 9-1 advantage behind RBI doubles from Jenkins and timely hits from Andrew Israel and Laranjo. Schreiner rallied late to cut the deficit to three in the ninth, but Dominic Gill shut the door to secure the 12-9 victory. Gill and Goddard both homered in the eighth inning to provide crucial insurance runs, while Walker Alsobrooks and Reed Morales each collected multi-hit games.
