IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's basketball team opened the 2025–26 campaign with a split at home, falling to nationally ranked Hardin-Simmons 71–53 on Thursday before bouncing back with a gritty 60–56 overtime win against Lyon on Saturday.
Game 1 vs. #20 Hardin-Simmons (11/13)
The Crusaders trailed by just two at halftime, but a cold second half swung the game in Hardin-Simmons' favor. Thomas Fleming led the way with 16 points on four triples, while Chandler Holmes added 14 on an efficient 6-8 shooting day. Terrence Bryant chipped in 10 points, and Johny Olmsted posted 7 points and 3 assists. Despite shooting 52% in the first half, UDallas was held to 28.6% after the break as the Cowboys pulled away.
Game 2 vs. Lyon – OT Win (11/15)
UDallas responded with its first victory of the season, outscoring Lyon 14-10 in overtime to secure a 60-56 win. Thomas Fleming again paced the offense with 16 points, while Terrence Bryant delivered a massive 43-minute performance, tallying 11 points and 9 rebounds. The newcomers proved pivotal, Kris Burgan provided a huge lift off the bench with 12 points and 9 boards, and Luke Paton added 5 points including a key three and Evan Herrera anchored the team late with physical play on 7 minutes and a key and one. The Crusaders closed regulation on a strong defensive stand, then shot 71% from the field in overtime to seal the win.
UDallas moves to 1–1 on the season and returns to action next week at the Maher Center.
