SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The University of Dallas women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Trinity University from Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 24-26.
Kathleen Roset highlighted the weekend for the Crusaders, advancing to the consolation final of the Women's Open Singles draw. After opening the tournament with a first-round victory over Hardin-Simmons' Christa Bennett, Roset continued through the consolation bracket with wins over Austin College's Bailey Quillen and advanced to the consolation semifinals. She ultimately reached the consolation final, where she faced Austin College's Ashlyn Alexander.
Emma Agnew and Cecilia Webb also made a strong run in the doubles draw. The duo opened Friday with an 8-6 victory over Austin College's Ashlyn Alexander and Bailey Quillen in the Round of 16 before falling 8-3 to the No. 2-seeded team from Mary Hardin-Baylor in the quarterfinals.
Agnew also advanced through the singles consolation bracket, earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Howard Payne's Eva Carr. Cecilia Webb and Colette Asan also competed in the singles consolation draw, while Asan and Roset represented UDallas in the main doubles draw.
